Partnership Timeline
November - December 2012 –UCT establishes the first two ASHA Alternative UCT councils with the support of Mike Hickey. These new ASHA Alternative councils – Tri-City Council 2002 and Cheetah Council 2003 - are set up to support the Washington Ice Dogs and the Montgomery Cheetahs – both ASHA member programs.

October 2012 -Jeff Masse of UCT's Manchester, New Hampshire Council 195 braves rain and 40 degree temperatures to complete the 26-mile Mount Desert Island Marathon in Bar Harbor, Maine. He ran on behalf of UCT to raise $1,500 in donations for ASHA.
August - October 2012 –UCT solidifies details and the process of how to establish alternative councils to best serve the causes and charities they support – such as local ASHA teams.
July 2012 –UCT’s new alternative council amendment passes.
March – June 2012 –UCT works to encourage a new amendment that would allow new alternative council concepts – one of which would allow ASHA parents to create a council to financially support their local ASHA team.

February 2012 -UCT hosts the inaugural UCT Outdoor Winter Hockey Festival at Ottawa Park Ice Rink in Toledo, Ohio in support of ASHA. This outdoor hockey festival kicks off year two of the UCT partnership with ASHA. Nine special hockey teams from the Midwest region participate in the festival.

May 2011 – January 2012 –UCT spends months planning and preparing for the first ever UCT Winter Hockey Festival with nine ASHA teams from the Midwest region registered to play.

April 2011 -Members of the New England Grand Council and UCT staff turn out to support the annual Special Hockey International (SHI) Tournament in Marlboro, Mass. The tournament was hosted by Massachusetts Special Hockey and the Boston Bear Cubs special hockey program. UCT learns valuable information on how to plan and host a hockey tournament.

March 2011 -Members of UCT's Eugene, Ore. Council 681 turn out to support ASHA’s Eugene Jr. Generals’ final practice of the season at a local ice rink. Council 681 members plan to work with the team’s coaches to possibly purchase a storage cabinet for the athletes to keep their equipment in at the rink between practices and games.

March 2011 -Members of several UCT local councils in Ohio come out to cheer on a special hockey game between the Columbus CCYHA Special Blue Jackets and the Pittsburgh Steel City Icebergs. UCT’s Home Office sponsored an after-game pizza party for players and their families and CEO Joe Hoffman presented $1,000 each to the coaches of both teams to help with travel costs to the Special Hockey International (SHI) tournament in Boston. UCT members, Board members and staff raised the money through fundraising events held throughout what was designated as “ASHA Month.”

January 2011 –UCT presents a $15,000 check to ASHA and kicks off a long-term partnership in support of such a great cause.
