New Canaan based Southern CT Storm Special Hockey receives a donation from the Olde Crabs Hockey Club Annual Tournament.
Now in its second season, New Canaan based Southern CT Storm Special Hockey was formed to provide a safe and fun hockey experience for children and young adults ages five and up who have developmental disabilities. The program uses the team environment to teach more than skating and hockey skills -- athletes make friends while attaining fundamental life skills such as independence, self-reliance, confidence, accountability, focus and concentration.
In support of the Storm's dedication to use hockey as a positive influence with all kinds of players, the Olde Crabs Hockey Club has presented them with a generous donation. The Olde Crabs Hockey Club was founded in 1991 with a commitment to set a standard for players both young and old to be involved in the sport in a safe and sportsmanlike manner, enjoy the benefits of a healthy, athletic life, and inspire others to become lifelong participants in this wonderful activity.
The Olde Crabs Hockey Club became a 501c3 charitable organization to further its mission, and is happy to help Southern CT Storm Hockey in its similar goal to reach out to players of all abilities. To learn more about The Olde Crabs Hockey Club, visit their website at www.oldecrabs.org
The Southern CT Storm practices weekly, organizes games with other special hockey teams in the tri-state area and attends an annual tournament. Storm Hockey is affiliated with American Special Hockey Association and USA Hockey and is a member of the Connecticut Hockey Conference.
American Special Hockey member organizations are very proud to have relationships with Senior and Adult programs. The Special Hockey Washington Ice Dogs have received donations on an annual basis from the
Geri Hatricks senior hockey team from money raised at their annual tournament.
