Brick Stars Head Coach Alex DePalma Chosen April Hero by NJ Heroes Foundation

I’m happy to announce that our April hero has been chosen and vetted. The Selection Committee has chosen Alex DePalma for the work he does with developmentally disabled children/adults. Alex, a lifelong hockey coach, started the Brick Stars Challenger Program a few years ago at Ocean Ice Palace. The program teaches children/adults with developmental disabilities how to skate and play hockey. Here is a little background on the program in Alex’s words:

Coloarado Ice Wizards "Shop with a Jock" (Colorado Avalanche Players) at Dick's Sporting Goods

20 players from the Colorado Ice Wizards got to shop at Dick's Sporting Goods in Belmar CO with players from the NHL Colorado Avalanche.

Each player got $100 to spend at Dick's while accomplanied with a player from the Av's.  And, each player received a ticket to a future Av's game.

Lots of fun was had by all.  There is a picture of the event on the rotating pictures on the ASHA Home Page.
